The competition was all about graphics at this point, and this is where Myst blew the gaming world's collective mind. Early RPG games that were popular on both gaming consoles and computers often had an element of puzzle-solving as part of the gameplay, and there was a healthy mix of first-person view games along with other titles that featured combat and character development along with the adventure.
